Požega

 

Our town is situated in eastern Croatia. There are about 26.000 inhabitants in Požega, and it is a center of Požeško-slavonska County.

 

Our town has a long history - the city of Požega was first time mentioned in 13th century. The remaining monuments from that time is Church of St. Lawrence (first mentioned in 1303), and the Church of the Holy Spirit (built in 1235).

 

People in Požega and surroundings are working on farming and viticulture. Main industries are metal-processing, foodstuffs (chocolate, sweets and drinks), textiles, wood and timber, and building material.

 

The day of town is on 12th March, in a memory of 12th March 1688 when people of Požega, led by frior Luka Imbrišimović, liberated our town.
