Croatia

 

Our country is parlamentary democratic republic. Our neighbours are Slovenia, Italy, Hungary, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Monte Negro. Croatia has 20 counties (one of them is our PožeÅ¡ko-slavonska County) and our capital Zagreb. 

History

 

Our history is rich: old Croatians came to this area in 7th century. In 9th century there was Christianization of Croats, and in year 879 first Croatian ruler duke Branimir was recognized. Croatia was independend till year 1102 and creating an union between Hungary and Croatia. In next historical period Croatia or parts of Croatia were under: Hungary, Austria, Ottomans, Italy, and Serbia. In 1991. Croatia declared independence, and in 1992 our country was international recognized (after almost thousand years) and became a member of Unated Nations.

Today

 

Today, Croatia is parlamentary democratic republic, member of European union and NATO. Croatia covers 56.000 square kilometres. There are about 4.3 million of inhabitants in Croatia. The climate is mostly continental and Mediterranean. 

Zagreb

 

Our capital Zagreb is industrial and political centre of our country. In Zagreb there is Croatian Parliament, president and government of Croatia. A lot of people come to Zagreb because of work. Most important industries of Zagreb are  production of electronical machines and devices, chemical, pharmaceutical, textile, food and drink processing. Also, in Zagreb there are many headquaters of Croatian companies.
